The National Basketball Association (NBA) has officially announced Louis Williams of the Toronto Raptors as this year’s Kia 6th Man of the Year Award recipient. This season, Lou has held many accolades such as his career-high game vs. Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring an astounding 36 points. In addition, Lou has lead all NBA reserves in most major scoring categories including total points (1,226), three-pointers made (152), free throws made (330) and 25+ point games (11). Coming off the bench this past 2014/15 regular season, Lou averaged 15.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists, which has led him in being identified as the Raptors 3rd overall top scorer. ‘Sweet Lou,’ as his Raptors fans call him, understands his role on his team, and for that, he has became the Raptors’ secret weapon.
“I am very grateful to be presented with this prestigious award. This is something that many players strive to receive in their career, myself included, and now after ten amazing years in the league I can say I have finally proven my worth and skill-set within this organization.” Lou Williams states, “Thank you to Kia Motors and the NBA for recognizing the hard work & dedication I put in this season. Lastly, I would like to recognize the other nominees such as Crawford, I.T., and Mirotic who are all great players in this sport and deserve their recognition for their major season as well, but most of all, thank you Toronto…WE THE NORTH!”
A part of the 2015 Kia 6th Man of the Year Award ceremony, Lou will be gifted with a brand new 2015 Kia automobile, which he will donate to the Remix Project Toronto. This non-profit organization focuses on youth mentoring, encouraging children from disadvantaged communities to participate and channel their energy and efforts into creative industries and furthering their education.
