Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman injured his left elbow against the Green Bay Packers in the 2015 NFC Championship game and despite playing with torn ligaments in Super Bowl 49, Sherman may need Tommy John surgery to help him return to his elite form.
The surgery which is usually performed on baseball pitchers normally requires 18 months recovery time which means Sherman could miss the entire 2015 NFL season.
According to ESPN,
Sherman, who suffered ligament damage in his left shoulder during the NFC Championship Game against the Packers, practiced for and played in the Super Bowl while making tackles and plays using his left arm.
Tommy John surgery is a procedure in which the ulnar collateral ligament undergoes reconstruction using a tendon from elsewhere in the body.
