Could the Brees and Payton era be coming to an end in New Orleans, I believe so. The Saints have looking average to say the least in the first two games of the 2015 NFL season and coming off of a home lost to Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Saints general won’t be in the shotgun for them this Sunday.
After suffering a injury during last Sunday’s matchup with Tampa Bay and despite wanting to and making every effort to suit up, Saint quarterback Drew Brees will miss Sunday’s week 3 divisional matchup against the (2-0) Carolina Panthers due to a shoulder injury.
According to ESPN,
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who suffered a bruised rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder, will not play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, coach Sean Payton announced Friday.
Sources told ESPN earlier in the day that Brees and Payton would both determine the quarterback’s status based on Brees’ assessment of how effective he feels he can be.
Brees, 36, has never missed a regular-season game due to injury in his 10 years with the Saints, which began after he recovered from major shoulder surgery in 2006.
