Common has placed himself in the Hall Of Fame as being one of hip-hop’s most conscious & uplifting leaders whether it be behind the mic or in front of the camera. His acting career has soared over the years & his most recent & crucial role in the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, Selma, has earned him immeasurable respect.
The Breakfast Club hadn’t gotten a chance to catch up with him upon the release of Selma, but after winning a Golden Globe Award for his character portrayal in the film, it was time to hear how Common was feeling about all of his accomplishments. Common humbly accepted the gratitude DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, & Angela Yee gave him for his success gained from the powerful movie & let it be known that the younger generation of today needs to be made aware of what this type of success means towards the culture.
We also learned that Selma has earned Common an Oscar nomination, that of which got him a phone call from Queen Latifah who praised him, & got HOV to tweet for the first time in months. Glory!
Congratulations to Common for receiving these great achievements! History continues to be made.
