Following the release of VH1’s Hip-Hop documentary, The Breaks it looks like mainstream media is looking to further showcase the origins of the culture with Netflix releasing it’s own original series titled, The Get Down. The brand new series is based during the 1970’s displaying the origins of Hip-Hop in the South Bronx and the elements of the culture such as music, community, nightlife and more through the eyes of its youth. The story is told through the lives and music of a crew of South Bronx teens.
