Nigeria-born, New Jersey-based rapper DanO delivers a brand-new banger, “Blue Flame,” that’s bursting with quotables, raw lyricism, and stellar production from TyCo Beats.
Known for his well received Verses & Hooks series, the Lagos, Nigeria native has made a name for himself with beyond-impressive bars that blend storytelling and braggadocio. He also has a strong ear for production, because the work TyCo does on “Blue Flame” effectively evokes the bluesy-funk spirit felt within the verses.
DanO may be talking his sh*t throughout his latest track, but there’s a rawness to his approach that brings depth and reality to his rhymes. His feelings of being motivated to take his art to the next level is palpable, and you can sense how he makes otherwise-difficult raps sound so effortless, like: “Kickin’ wack to the curb/ Don’t wanna hear that nonsense/ All I do is mess with dimes/ Fuck I’m-a do with nine cents?” There’s a lot to unpack in those rhymes alone, so don’t be surprised if you keep “Blue Flame” on repeat as you decipher every line.
