HawksSuns-500x279 Chriss Crossed: Atlanta Hawks vs. Phoenix Suns (1-2-18) (Recap)

The Atlanta Hawks kicked off the 2018 season on the West Coast and to say their latest game was wild is an understatement.

On Tuesday January 2nd, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Atlanta Hawks (104-103) after a big fourth quarter from the Suns. The Hawks young team reminds Me of a heavyweight fighter that refuse to go down and somehow in the last round they get knocked out, yet next match their better and ready for battle. The future is bright for both teams the Suns (no pun intended) and the Hawks and that was evident Tuesday night.

Suns guard Devin Booker is one of the best scorers in the NBA and he still isn’t the household name that he should be. Booker led his team on Tuesday night finishing the game with 34 points, 5 rebound and 7 assist. Booker is averaging 25 a game on the season. T.J. Warren also had a huge scoring impact on the game. Warren finished the night with 31 points.

Even with the big scoring nights from Booker and Warren, the player of night from Phoenix Suns was Marquese Chriss. Chriss finished the night with 17 points but his impact was huge in the second half. Chriss hit two big three pointers in the fourth and made a huge block that helped the Suns walk away with a victory.

The Atlanta Hawks led the game for most of the night and controlled the pace as well, however the Suns run late in the fourth was too much for the Hawks to overcome. The Silent “Assassin” Ersan Ilyosova led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points. Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore both finished the night with 20 points however Kent Bazemore shot (7-8) from the field and was stellar on the defensive end of the ball.

The Atlanta Hawks continue their west coast road trip on Friday January 5th in Portland as they face the Portland Trailblazers. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for more NBA news. Follow @eldorado2452 on Twitter and Instagram for all your NBA and sports news.
