Take a trip through the streets of Denver in rising rapper Donnie Raven’s new video for “Vibin’,” a feel-good anthem boasting stellar production from one of the best to ever do it, Nottz.
The visuals, which were directed by Chris Roe for The Other Guys Visual Productions, centers on a teenage boy taking a bicycle ride through the Colorado capital and seemingly living out portions of Raven’s verses. While the track as a whole sits on the upbeat side of the emotional spectrum, there are moments of reality that provide a certain heaviness to the affair. Bars like “We all copin’ with life on life’s terms” are particularly potent and evident of the message on here.
These sentiments stem from Raven’s struggles with substance abuse, though he was able to turn tragedy into triumph by reaching and maintaining sobriety. And similar to how our young protagonist finds a sense of freedom and strength riding with the motorcycle crew towards the end of the video, you get the feeling this burgeoning emcee is on that same level.
Check out the visuals, and then head over to the digital retailer or streaming outlet of your choice to support. “Vibin’” is the second Instant Grat track off Livelihood, available now for purchase off the iTunes’ pre-order. The six track EP, which is primarily produced by Nottz, is set to drop Thursday, Sept 27.
