Rising artist Joey Vantes proves exactly why he’s one to watch this year with his stirring new video for “What It Feels Like,” which offers a stark look at the realities of life and death.
The melodic, ayowiththemayo-produced single stems from the West Coast native’s much anticipated new EP, Legends Never Die 2, which is due out soon and may just be his best work yet. That’s because Vantes has developed a sound all his own, one that treads closely to modern Hip-Hop but is skewered by the multi-talented artist’s singular approach.
You can hear it throughout “What It Feels Like” and see it in the visuals as well. The haunting video stars a seemingly distressed Vantes, who stumbles through a desert setting before eventually turning on himself. We don’t want to spoil too much here, but there’s a lot to love about this single and video. It was directed by Vantes himself in addition to Kat St. Clair, Chip Garcia (of Another Chip), and Miguel Chavez (of Roaring Lion Productions).
