Roosevelt, NY producer DJ AO’s new single, “Bread & Cheese,” is a celebratory banger that chronicles all the hard work and hustle of its collaborators, Harlem emcee UFO Fev and Brooklyn vocalist Travis Mendes.
The beatsmith/deejay invited the two artists to take a proverbial seat at the table and share stories about their come up. But “Bread & Cheese” is more than just waxing poetics about nostalgia and inspirational tales related to perseverance and hard work. Both Fev and Mendes also take time to recognize what they’ve accomplished and where they are today with wise words about wealth and maintaining a strong sense of self.
Fittingly, the track arrives on the heels of successful releases by everyone involved. AO recently dropped the well received, “Y’all Knew That,” featuring B.Keyz, while UFO Fev released his collaborative project, Fresh Air, with none other than Statik Selektah this past February. And then there’s Mendes’ Altered State EP featuring both Karina Pasian and Hudson Valley that dropped in early March to fan acclaim.
