HHS87 Presents “Worldwide Wednesday”: Ghana Edition

Sco Pa Tu Manaa ?!?!?!?!?!

How many posts on social media have you seen this past year with that phrase? The popularity is pointed to this Ghanian jam by Kawoula Biov featuring Patapaa. “Daavi Ne ba” has a catchy rhythm that instantly hooks in the listener with the artists trading off rapid flows and melodies. This international jam crossed over and sparked a meme with unlimited threads stretching from twitter to instagram. The phrase really doesn’t mean anything. At least not in any Ghanaian languages but has been given the meaning “WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THIS MATTER” on Twitter as an inside joke.

Nobody uses “Sco Pa Tu Manaa” in any spoken languages in Ghana. It’s just used on Twitter, as Patapaa is popular in Ghana for rapping jibberish sometimes. Proof that “mumble rap” can spark a worldwide viral meme.
