Multifaceted performer Lakeith Stanfield, musically known as Htiekal, releases visuals for his latest single as a solo recording artist called “ Birds” ft Git. The artist also made a point to take a jog through his neighborhood to use his platform to raise awareness for the current Ahmaud Arbery tragedy.
Always being one to push artistry beyond the norms, the video brings a creative facetime-like flair. Lakeith Stanfied, musically known as Htiekal, describes the theme of “Birds” as something that can represent women for some while to others it can mean money or the hustle. “Birds” showcases the rapper’s range and bars being a different style than that of his last single “Fast Life.” In all, the hook came to him during Sundance Film Festival a while back as he woke up inspired by the harmonious sounds of birds outside of his window making him feel ready to seize the day and accomplish any goal set in front of him. Stanfield is managed by 365 Management’s Andy Kabamba who also represents legendary artist T-Pain and Grammy Award-winning producer Dre Moon [known for Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” and The Weeknd’s “Heartless”.
Outside of music, Htiekal, like many, is passionate about bringing an end to the amount of stories we see scrolling down our timeline with headlines of black men and women senselessly gunned down by white counterparts and police. In an effort to raise awareness, he took a jog as demonstration and encourages others to band together to take a stand. View video here.
