What a crazy turn of events in the world of sports. Just a few days after the four major American sports leagues all made changes to their locker room policies, the NBA has taken a huge blow.

Just moments before the Utah Jazz matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder took place, doctors ran on the court asking all players to return to their respective locker rooms. A few minutes late it was revealed that Utah Jazz all-star Rudy Gobert has tested positive for Coronavirus. The game between the Jazz and Thunder was immediately postponed and a couple minutes later the NBA decided to suspend the 2019-2020 season after Wednesday night’s game until further notice.

Players on both the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder have been put in quarantine. The NBA has released this official statement.
The NBA announced that a player on the Utah Jazz has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of tonight’s game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena. At that time, tonight’s game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena.
The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.
