All-encompassing entertainer Dezzie Gee is posted at ‘The Corner Store,’ staking his claim as Long Beach’s latest raw talent.
The city is notorious for producing legendary musical acts, and Dezzie is poised to showcase his worthiness with his impressive debut. His skills run deep, as he produces, raps, DJs and much more.
The 11-track project is both refreshing and innovative, fusing the classic feel of that laidback LBC sound with Dezzie’s modern perspective and styles. The result is a well-rounded sonic experience with a list of songs to suit all desires, just as Dezzie planned it.
“This album is a way for me to showcase my brand, my talents, and my friends,” explains Dezzie. “There’s something for everyone at ‘The Corner Store.'”
Dezzie’s goal for the project is larger than the unison of his city and sister cities. “I want to push this side globally. I want to push the L.A. 95-108 BPM, I want to push that culture. I want everyone in the world to have a two-step!” he proclaims.
The project’s name originates from his personal shop and brand The Corner Store. “You think of a corner store as a place where people can come and get anything they want. As far as production, creative content, merch, and music creation, whatever you’re craving — we have it all.”
Last year during the Pandemic, Dezzie Gee put together West by West Side (WXWS), a virtual music festival which streamed exclusively on YouSound. It featured a slew of up and coming talent, including Huey Briss, KB DeVaughn, HeyDeon, Kee Riches, Chris O’Bannon, and more.
Dezzie isn’t new to the music scene, however, he began making music during the jerking era and has been on multiple international tours as Jasiah and Westside Boogie’s tour DJ. ‘The Corner Store’ includes features from mainstays Jasiah, Westside Boogie, and Buddy, as well as some of the West Coast’s freshest voices and production. As a precursor to the project, Dezzie dropped “I Need That 2.0 (Feat. KB Devaughn, Ash Bee, Wray, AshBashThaRapper & DoKnow)” on April 15.
