Kansas City artist EZ Papi has released his newest album Trapped Emotions 2. The project consists of 7 tracks that follow the journey of a man looking for his one true love in life. Throughout the tapes’s entirety he experiences a rollercoaster range of emotions and heartbreaks due to choosing the wrong women such as on standout track “Spanish Nights.”
“Shakespeare’s work I’ve always been a fan of and appreciated,” EZ said. “I wanted to create the same heartbreak and romance he had in his work except turning it into a collection of songs.”
The constant back and forth between loving and then losing it causes him to question what he truly wants in life. EZ’s approach to love and tragedy on the series of songs allows for listeners to relate to the weighty content of each track while still managing to stay upbeat in mood due to the buoyant nature of the Afro-Caribbean infused beats he sings so smoothly on. Trapped Emotions 2 is in his own words the “true definition of Summer album.”
Earning his name for being so laid back growing up, EZ was always drawn to music and poetry as he often received encouragement from his teachers to keep up with it because they saw his talent. Deciding in high school to seriously pursue his career, the Afro-Caribbean artist’s progression is evident with every new release.
“I’m passionate about making music not only because it brings joy but it also can heal and save someone’s life,” he shared. My music is nothing but good energy and dance vibes. So I want to keep spreading good energy around the world.”
His latest album Trapped Emotions 2 comes after his Dark Fantasies EP that was released earlier this year and the island-inspired single “Go Low” last month. Choosing to lock in and pour all of his energy into the project, listeners can expect many more things that will enhance the listening experience and make the album more enjoyable.
