Want to make it big in the music industry? Tune in to our deep dive into Jay Pareil’s background to see if you don’t learn something…
Jay Pareil is only 26 years old, and he has already taken the music industry in Philadelphia by storm. Real name Joseph A Irving III, Jay is torpedoing along the path to success, full speed ahead. The Philly music scene is notoriously hard to break into, but this young rapper has smashed all expectations apart.
Jay released his first single: Digital Math, back in 2019. Aged only 24, he was able to release a single that was commended among his peers. Since then, he has seen hit after hit, accumulating lifelong fans all over the world – and doing especially well on YouTube, where his videos are some of the most viewed music videos in the business.
But it wasn’t all fun and games for this rapping sensation. At a young age, Jay Pareil thought it would be impossible to break into the music scene without the right contacts and thousands of dollars to spare.
Making it Big in Philly
How do you break onto the music scene in Philly without fancy cars and fast cash? We’d love to tell you that you can get noticed rapping at a bus stop, but that just isn’t the case. Jay Pareil maintains that the only thing that gets you where you want to go, is hard work.
“You gotta want it. You gotta work for it day after day. You don’t get someone just fixing it so you can achieve your dreams. You gotta do it for yourself.”
Jay maintains that this is how he has managed to make it so big at such a young age. Hard work repeated day after day. Taking small steps, one day at a time, moving incrementally closer to your goal… that’s how you make it big in Philly.
Advice for Young Rappers
Does Jay have any other advice for young rappers? He is certain that the business is a difficult one. Young rappers are coming up all the time, learning their craft on the streets and trying to score that record deal. It’s about more than just wanting it to happen to you one day. It’s about getting up and going out, going and doing a battle, even when you don’t feel like it.
Succeeding in the music industry anywhere is about working consistently. If you go out and you form your own band, and you do it when they tell you that they’re not going to pay you for it. If you show up, do it anyway, and don’t pay attention to the people that tell you that you can’t… Then you have what it takes to be a Rapper in the US.
Do you have what it takes?
