Jay Millian is West Coast’s new superstar, working with artists such as Blxst, TeeJay3k, and many others have proven his ability to adapt to any sound and make a killer song. So it is no surprise Millian’s latest track and visual, “Karma,” has been doing numbers, showcasing his versatility and aptitude as an artist. The song is definitely a vibe, and showcases what Jay Millian is capable of as an artist.
“I’ve always made sure to keep my music honest and use my life experience to influence the music so that it stays organic,” Jay Millian said in a recent interview.
Jay Millian’s “Karma” opens with him being late for work, dealing with drama from his girl, which escalates into an even worse day. As the video progresses, you see Jay Millian working, delivering food, taking orders, and taking a call from his girl while on the clock. As his boys, coworkers, in the background joking around, especially when Millian’s girl accuses him of liking a girl’s pictures online. Right as they get in trouble for not working with their boss, Millian diffuses the tension and stress in the visual with comedic relief, as his boss is not taking his s–t, and eventually fires him.
The visual then takes a turn, when after he gets fired, a girl from earlier in the music video hands him her number. Then immediately cuts to his girl, who was concerned over Millian’s liking of other girls’ pictures, hopping into another guy’s car. The visual is a linear story of how a love story can be “burdened by trust issues, relationship issues and the result of everything that comes with that,” as Jay Millian shows how trust can make or break a relationship in his visual for “Karma.”
Jay Millian does something special here with “Karma” not only for the visual but the sound he creates, dubbing it “a mix of G Funk and Neo-Soul. Gangsta Soul, or G Soul for short.” Millian creates smooth, melodic harmonies about trust and love in introspective verses and compelling themes.
With the release of his last project, Grisham Deluxe, it is no shock that Jay Millian comes guns a blazing in his new visual and track “Karma,” leaving nothing left unsaid, as he is gearing up for a “couple tapes” dropping soon, as well as “fine-tuning this G soul sound.” So, be sure to tap in with Jay Millian on Instagram @jaymillianofficial and @Jaymillianmusic on Twitter.
