World attention is focused right now on UEFA’s Euro 2020 tournament, which was delayed a year because of the circulating COVID-19 pandemic. While many countries have recruited hometown heroes for their campaign anthems, England has employed Krept & Konan for “Olé (We Are England ’21),” which also features contributions from S1lva, M1llionz, and Morrisson. The accompanying video clip for “Olé (We Are England ’21)” was directed by Suave and premiered through GRM Daily. The clip shows dozens of soccer fans waving England flags outside Wembley Stadium as the song plays. Additionally, Morrison and M1llionz can also be found at different locations.
It follows Krept & Konan’s sophomore album Revenge Is Sweet, which was released back in 2019 and featured contributions from Headie One, K-Trap, late rapper Cadet, Stormzy, Wizkid, Tory Lanez, Spice, MoStack, D-Block Europe and Ling Hussle. We Are England, a BBC documentary that included appearances by England head coach Gareth Southgate, West Ham United defender Declan Rice, and Aston Villa forward Tyrone Mings, had fans witnessing the creation of the song before it was released. The same documentary also dealt with racism in regards to international sports in the UK.
