Never one to rest on laurels, supreme beatmaker, and producer Apollo Brown has again set the bar for Hip-Hop production with his new collaboration album with Chicago MC Philmore Greene, Cost of Living. The album represents the complete idea of introspection. Cost of Living is relatable, empathetic, grown, and needs for nothing. The new album is grounded, personal and mature. Alongside Apollo Brown, Philmore Greene shines like few MCs are capable.
Today, Apollo Brown & Philmore Greene released the new song and video “Steep Life.” The video was directed by Will Gates, in Chicago where Philmore’s story takes place.
As the scratched vocals of Common echo on the hook to “Steep Life,” “rappers and hoopers, we strive to be like,” Greene is all too aware of reality and his surroundings. Like the former Common Sense before him, he has created a canon of morals and integrity that eschews sanctimony. The testimony of someone who has seen dope runners, villains, broken passions, and cold-blooded betrayals, the consequences that can befall you in a concrete jungle if you’re not careful (or even if you are).
Apollo Brown & Philmore Greene’s Cost Of Living will be released on 11-15-22 via Mello Music Group and features guest appearances from Evidence and Rashid Hadee.
