Earlier this year I released The Godfather And The Don with Skinny Bonez Tha Godfather on production featuring G Fam Black, Barbaric, and cuts by GNyce and currently in collaborative effort with my dad GNyce we recently dropped Roc Builders produced and mastered by GNyce features Upstate New York emcees Barbaric, Street Da’ Villan, Diego Dollaz, Azariah, General Luciano, Crotona P, MIC Johnson Jr., Jae Hussle, Zagnif Nori, Alvarez Masterminded, and special appearance by DJ Chris G (SFTU 2.0) executive produced by me with picking out some the beats and reaching out to artist as well as song concepts. I always wanted to to put together a compilation after watching my father do same with Upstate New York artist bringing them together to work on music.
What is unique about you and your music?
Im known for my distinctive and ruff voice combined with wordplay and punchlines i bring a unique and original flow with the ability to change style and cadences on every beat and being that i grew up listening to all types of music as well as genres in Hip Hop i can adapt to different sounds and BPMs
What shaped your music?
First with the loss of my mother which was sudden, gave me a wake up call that life is short and there is no perfect time to accomplish something you are passionate about. So in 2015 i dropped my first major mixtape on Livemixtapes.com “Autobiography Of Pain” hosted by DJ Cinemax and DJ Supense which opened doors far as radio air play and blog placements, and motivated me to make more music. Leading to these past three years especially, working with talented and well known producers like ManZu Beatz, Masta Conga, Kheyzine, Dray Yard, SMD, and many more. In addition with collaborating with elite emcees such as G Fam Black, Bubs Styles, Rob Gates, Indigo Phoenyx, RhymeStyleTroop, Pace Won, Falcon Outlaw, Slik Jack, Piff Pennywise Jr., JFliz, and much more.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
After my mixtape when I seen the response and positive feedback; at the same time with technology and new outlets for artist to release and distribute music on. I gained the confidence and knowledge in the music business from trial and error. For example learning how to promote properly far as what markets to aim for and learning how to register and own what i create its definitely a ever evolving learning process.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to old school RnB and Hip Hop that I grew up listening to as well some of the new underground Hip Hop especially the artist im cool with.
What inspires you to write music?
Life in general what im going through or been through or how im feeling becomes my motivation. Writing has always been my passion and way to escape the troubles and stresses in the world from poetry to short stories.I was always into music and writing early on probably 5th grade since I can remember I’ve been writing in a composition notebook especially with my dad GNyce aka The Upstate Original Greg Nyce who’s worked with 38 Spesh, Black Geez, Rob Gates, Money Bo$$ Click and many more far as producing and recording artist. I got to watch up close and personal at a young age artist create and perform their music. Also I’ve seen him DJ and share stages with Marley Marl, Craig G, KRS-One to name a few.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise)that you are passionate about?
I’ve always been a writer far as writing poetry and stories, I do graphic design for myself and others, create designs for merch and clothing and I’m into gaming Happiness to you is… im a father and family man first so seeing my children and loved ones happy and healthy brings me joy also seeing my kids take on music and art (drawing) let’s me know the music gene in the family is strong. In addition being able to create art and share it with the world, having my music appreciated and respected is big for me. In the beginning I just wanted to be heard and now people listening around the world. Working with talented and well known producers and emcees in the U.S. and internationally.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
First and foremost believe in yourself and dont pass any opportunity thats available and right for you. Anything you want in life comes with great effort and sacrifice especially in music. Lastly do your research and learn the business from owning to marketing and promotion if you want to be serious and go far there are no short cuts
