To jump in, we asked Daggy to tell us more about the song.
“Jolie, in French, means beautiful. Which really describes the entire process of this record. TORYONTHEBEAT (the producer on the track) brings inspiration and French influence. We have worked on various tracks that always gain a positive reception. The tag can be heard on the song, as I left it in there. TORYONTHEBEAT’s production overseas has now become a global attraction, representing France and its music scene as well. The beat was the catalyst for my vision. I was focused on creating a story that reflects a motivated mindset, but still paying attention to the reality of wanting something more. The verses describe searching for the perfect girl, yet still understanding the reality. “Beaucoup des filles”, so many girls. There are so many girls, as one verse goes back and forth between diversity and particular characteristics. ‘Jolie’ speaks to those who are entertaining flirtation and socializing, while still remaining fixated on a standard. To me, as most of my musical catalog reflects, money is a motive. The reality is there are plenty of perfect, beautiful, women, but which one is for me? The song’s infectious sound takes the listener to this scene, this encounter. I imagine ‘Jolie’ being played full volume in a speeding sports car or blaring through the speakers of a nightclub. The song encompasses a unique vibe. ‘Jolie’ was recorded at Asylum Studios, in Miami, Florida. Mykey Lo engineered the session, I’ll never forget his reaction to the first vocal takes. We were sure a hit was in the making. He mixed the vocals and matched the expressions of the beat and the context of the song. His expertise is a big reason the song has that X factor.”
We love the passion and collaboration that went into this song, and it certainly shines through on the record. The song delivers on that club feel, and it’s just a smooth laid back track that oozes coolness.

The track being in French also adds a level of intrigue and exoticism to it. We asked Daggy if this was the first time he made the leap into making music in French and what inspired him to do so.
“This is the first all-French song, start to finish. There are two other songs in my available catalog, ‘Balcony’ and ‘RA’, which are both mainly in English, but include multiple verses in French. I have always spoken French, but it did take a while to master it. My Father is from Europe and speaks other languages, it was always an incentive to learn and incorporate the use of the language. Being a dual citizen, I’ve spent time there in my early years. After a couple of summers spent in the South of France, I can consider myself fluent. Experiencing the language and culture has had a major influence on my life; my identity and my versatility in recording. Being able to deliver a track in a completely different language is a thrilling process. Showing tracks like ‘Jolie’ to others always brings interest, as the barrier in translation is broken down through the music. Music is universal, so despite the language being foreign to some, there is still a connection and ability to enjoy. This song is a masterpiece, the mood is indescribable, you have to listen for yourself.”

Before we moved off of the French theme, we asked Daggy if he approached creating songs in a different language differently than the ones he writes in English.
“The creation and brainstorming process is very similar to other songs. I always look for the 4 to 5 potential variations in melodies based on the instrumentation of the beat being used. In the case of ‘Jolie’, the lyrics were immediately thought to be in French. This is what drove the rest of the story and the foundation of the hook. “Je dit, viens ici”, that phrase set the tone.”
‘Jolie’ is absolutely one of those tracks that should help him grow his fanbase around the globe. With that in motion, we asked Daggy what was up next for him.
“I’ve been on a hiatus from recording since January, in the time since then I have been looking over my extensive catalog and focusing my efforts on marketing and reaching out to the fans. I’ve always been entertaining the idea of releasing a full-length album. There are plenty of songs to make that a reality, yet I want to lock back in the routine of recording in the next coming months. A fresh approach is where I’m confident I can deliver what is my best work. Perhaps linking back up with Mykey Lo, or creating a collaborative tape with Lowgass @lowgass. The sky is always the limit, but I will continue to market and continue to spread my music on a global scale. Expect more music videos too! Classic tracks like Liar and Paper are well overdue for a visual. Music videos are always an exciting process. Having worked with Zin @zinwav on my latest visual, Sprint, we’ll continue to collaborate on content.”

Daggy’s commitment to quality, in his music and visuals, is clear with every release. With him getting back to the grind we’re excited for what’s next.
Before we let him go, we asked him why music lovers should check him out.
“A message that embodies my life and passion for music: Here to Motivate and Inspire. Those who have the pleasure of coming across my music or content will be able to feel empowered. Daggy music is a mood board, a pallet. As I feel I’ve experienced a plethora of emotions, I know we all have our moments of depending on that musical cure. I use what I have learned and felt to share in my music. ‘Jolie’ is just one example of the dependability I have in music to do what I’m passionate about, and how others depend on the ideal track to match their mood. Think of my music as an escape or any type of therapy, a boost in confidence, and energy for a great day ahead. There are plenty of timeless tracks in my catalog, as music always inspires me, I deliver tracks that will do the same. I’m an independent artist, and my career and actions are solely connected to the demand and interest of the fans. With that being said, I have the creative control to share as much content as possible. Whatever listeners want, whether casual or dedicated fans, their wish is my command. I’m ready to tour, I’m prepared to do more traveling and exploration. The support of the fans is what I am grateful for, as these past few months I’ve grown closer to the Dag family. My music is only going to rise to the highest peak, taking my supporters with me. It’s an honor to have support and recognition from my listeners, we are in this mission to greatness together.”
