Hailing from the P-Funk state of Plainfield, New Jersey, Lamar Tyree’s musical roots run deep. Even at an early age, it had him entranced.
At birth, it was the only way to soothe his cries. By the age of 5, influenced by watching his father play in bands, he would pretend that he, his brother and cousins were a part of a group, singing and playing multiple instruments. The next year, Lamar joined the choir and his musical pretending became a reality. His angelic voice soon held everyone who heard it in its grasp. In 2004, he and the family moved to Woodbridge Township, intensifying his music experience. He went on to audition for the Woodbridge Idol and placed second in the competition. This opened up many opportunities to perform locally. He joined NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center) It was during this time that he realized a true love for performing and saw just how many lives it could touch.
Lamar counts his father MrPocket as one of his biggest musical inspirations, sharing company with Josh Milan, Stevie Wonder, Timberland, Usher and Fantasia, to name a few.
