Renowned Dancehall and Reggae legend General Pype, today dropped his triumphant battle anthem “Blessed & Ready,” returning to music after a hiatus. Pype took some time off to take care of his family, and complete his education at Georgia Film Academy, and now he’s back with a modern, reinvigorated version of the classic Pype sound fans have come to love across the world. Pype is known as a pioneering Nigerian reggae/dancehall artist and songwriter, who largely popularized the genres not only in West Africa, but across the continent through the success of hits like “Champion,” “Mash It Up,” and “All The Loving,” featuring Burna Boy and Phyno. The track was immediately featured on Apple Music’s Afrobeats Hits official playlist, “a snapshot of Afrobeats’ biggest and best tunes, right now.” Pype is also the founder of Obalende Records, which he officially launched in 2012 to further his mission of remaining independent, and true to his vision of bringing his home of Obalende to the world.
On March 1, 2022 Pype officially signed a management deal with international distribution company CashBoy Records, founded in Accra, Ghana by Morgan Cashboy in 2009. He also began working with Grammy-Award winning publishing and marketing agency Creative Titans, a JV partner of Concord Music. Fans can look out for multiple singles and an EP within 2022, and he continues to spread his sound, and his message of love – made in Nigeria, for global consumption.
