Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Ruwanga has become one of the top record producers and songwriters to grace the industry. Through his mother, Renuka, who is a musician, young Ruwanga was surrounded by some of the most talented musicians in the country. At the height of the country’s unstable political atmosphere and civil war, his family decided to and eventually moved to Pasadena, CA when he was 12. Since then, Ruwanga attended John Muir High School before moving to La Verne, California, and graduating from Bonita High School. After High School, Ruwanga attended Cal State San Bernardino for a semester until he dropped out to pursue a career in music.

As they say, music is the universal art that cuts through all demographic barriers, and Ruwanga is a true witness to it. He found music to be his unique way of expressing himself. Music provided him an avenue to express his emotions that he couldn’t explain in words.

Growing up with a musical background did not guarantee direct success in the industry, and he had to work hard to make things happen for himself. He has to his name an extensive list of songs that he has composed. These songs have helped take his music scene to exponential levels of growth in the last few years. 

Ruwanga has composed and produced music for over 50 movies including the end title songs for movies such as Fast Five, Busta Rhymes, Don Omar, and J. Doe, Reality High &Gideon’s Army. He has also placed songs in movies such as TED, Spare Parts, Tower Heist, You’re Next Generation Iron, Saw IV, Christmas in Compton, Son of Morning, Doubletime & Wonder, and more. He was recently signed with SALXCO and also has upcoming releases with some of the biggest artists in the world.

Ruwanga has done several remixes for artists such as including Beyoncé Knowles’ “Ring the Alarm” remix, Britney Spears’ “Break the Ice” remix, Kelly Rowland’s “Work” remix, The Virgins’ “Rich Girls” remix.

For a musician like Ruwanga, the rewarding experience of networking using his social influence has become crucial in paving a way to success. Investing time and passion into his music has shown his dedication to the process as an artist.
