Born in Tyler, Texas and raised throughout the South, the ambitious and distinctive artist, DJK, opens up about his experiences in music and his upcoming projects. Influenced by artists such as 50 Cent, T.I. and Prince during his childhood, DJK has grown to create his own sound which he describes as a mix of hip-hop and R&B. His artist name, which is derived from the initials of his real name (DJN) except the N is swapped with a K, since he came to kill every beat he gets a hold of! By creating his own noticeable sound, DJK tells the world through his music that there is only one of him.
Passionate about music since he was young, DJK states that music is definitely a part of him in addition to being an outlet for him. In 2007, he began recording himself over beats on a tape recorder and as time progressed he began to use software such as FL Studios and Pro Tools to record and engineer his own music.
Although he did not have enough information for music business-wise, DJK joined his brothers (Franchise & AJ1K) and Mom (Ms. Moma Scott) to form the record label, Fast Entertainment. Although music has always been fun for him, the business aspect of it has gotten much more serious since 2018 and the aspiring star is only going up from here.
Beside himself, DJK mentions that his biggest motivators are his family, supporters and his future goals. Not only have his business goals become more serious but so have his personal goals. During late 2020, DJK’s Mom/Manager, Ms. Moma Scott had been extremely sick with COVID and almost passed.
“It motivated me to focus harder on my career because I didn’t want to take time for granted and I want her to be here to see me be successful and ultimately it has helped my work ethic a lot. I will also say she has since enjoyed a great deal of success and blessings!”
Some of his goals when it comes to artistry include earning a #1 song and/or album on Billboard but more importantly to inspire the next generation and leave his mark on history and hip-hop/RNB culture forever.
This isn’t it for DJK either, as he says that more music and more videos are coming soon in addition to being bigger and better. Even outside of music, he’s open to an acting career!
“I’m definitely interested In acting, granted the right opportunity comes my way! I’ve always had it In the back of my mind for some reason. It would be really huge to see myself on the big screen or in someone’s TV show.” The multi-talented artist opens up.
He leaves the audience with a message: “Start supporting me if you aren’t because I’m just getting started and I’m here to stay! Also to keep your mind on whatever task is at hand and to get to it!”
