New York native Charizard has always been serious about working in the music industry. Growing up in NYC, the artist/producer was well aware of the city’s underground scene, attending different concerts and several parties. Today, he resides in Los Angeles and is part of the A&R production team over at Bighead Music Group. But prior to that, the young artist/producer had other plans in mind. “Originally I had aspirations to attend MIT to build sick robots,” he says. But after his teachers shattered his academic rigor and prowess, Charizard turned to YouTube and started creating videos.
From there, he jumped into music and bumped into Bighead Music Group co-founder, Alex Loyalty. The two worked together on Swifty Blue and Bighead’s “Swap for a Swap”, featuring Kodak Black, which peaked at No. 7 on the iTunes chart. When it comes to musical influences, Charizard says Lil Uzi Vert is and will forever be his favorite artist. However, he’s also inspired by a few other big names, such as Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, Kodak Black, and Yeat. In terms of genres, the producer has an acquired taste in music. “I’m pretty sturdy on SoundCloud/ Mumble Rap, Hyperpop, Drill (specifically NYC Drill) and Classical (only stuff from when people really were living in castles though!).”
The LA-based artist/producer recently released his mixtape over the summer titled Trashzard VV1. As for future projects, something is definitely in the works for 2023. “Let’s just say it’s a lil, a lil some from down under if you will. Something with my bruddahs. It’s a sound that’s never been heard in America before.”
