Known for his appealingly raspy voice, speaker-knocking beats, and sharp sense of humor, Eem Triplin is on the road to stardom. Giving the cinematic treatment to an acclaimed recent single, the Johnstown City, PA native shares the video for “LET YOU KNOW.” A collaboration with his close associate $NOT, the Pitchfork-acclaimed “LET YOU KNOW” finds both rappers twirling gentle melodies and triplet rhymes over minor-key organ and snapping fingers, $NOT’s basso rumblings jibing with Eem’s wistful flow.
In the video, directed by Omar Jones, Eem processes the messy end of a relationship, reminiscing about the good times and thinking about what could have been. Luckily, Eem has $NOT for emotional support–rhyming from beneath his tightly-zipped hood, $NOT advocates for revenge: “F*ck a millimeter b*tch, I ride with a shotty/Bullet holes all on my chest and his body.”
“LET YOU KNOW” is Eem’s first new music video of 2023, arriving in the wake of his pugilistic single “WALKED IN.” “LET YOU KNOW” and “WALKED IN” are the latest steps in Eem’s inevitable journey to stardom, fueled by a mixture of strong music and a knack for going viral. In 2022, Eem’s self-produced breakthrough hit “AWKWARD FREESTYLE“–sampling and co-signed by Tyler, The Creator–generated over 42 million streams across platforms, and fans intrigued by the song quickly found that Eem had a full catalog of similarly vibey highlights to choose from, including singles like “Louie V” (20 million+ Spotify streams) and his latest track “JUST FRIENDS?” (23+ million streams since its early September release).
Last Fall, Eem made his first festival performance at Rolling Loud New York, performing in front of a sparse crowd but making sure that the folks in the crowd would remember him forever (even if they forgot their own names in the process). This month, Eem made another Rolling Loud performance that illustrated how much he’s grown. He performed on the main stage at Rolling Loud California, drawing a much bigger crowd for his second performance at the hip-hop festival. Eem is currently touring the country, opening for LUCKI on the sold out “Flawless Like Me: The Made Martian Tour”.
With millions of streams on his catalog per week, the 21-year-old Eem Triplin’s potential is sky high. Stay tuned for a new EP from the multitalented artist in the near future.
