Stacking bands and flexes in equal measure, Paper Route Empire superstar Key Glock specializes in no frills rap bangers. To kick off #GLOCKTOBER, the 26-year-old artist shares “No Hook 2,” his first new song since the release of his Glockoma 2 (Deluxe) project. Produced by King Wonka, who previously collaborated with Glizock on songs like “GRAMMYS” and “Bad To The Bone,” “No Hook 2” is a menacing missive, built around snapping snares and a haunting guitar lick. As implied by the title, the song is an unceasing barrage of bars–Glock works a variety of cadences as he finds creative ways to talk about his favorite things–his watches, his love life, his supernatural cool–and takes a moment to laugh in the face of the Grim Reaper: “Ay, I been swimming through the money, all day gettin’ reps/They say life’s hard, Glock’s fascinated with death.” In the video, Glock goes bump in the night, returning to his hometown of Memphis to show off the “water on water on water” on his wrist and rhyme in front of a mural depicting his mentor Young Dolph.
“No Hook 2” arrives shortly after Glock announced his first-ever Canadian headlining tour. Kicking off next month in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the tour passes through six Provinces, with shows in major cities like Vancouver (November 19), Toronto (November 23), Montreal (November 26), and more.
