When it comes to lyrical rappers that consistently release classic mixtapes or albums, we think of Curren$y, Larry June, or Payroll Giovanni. Punchlines, lyricism, and storytelling a natural skills only the best rappers can successfully add to their music. But, who are the lyrical rappers of the next generation constantly releasing classic mixtapes and albums again? Well, there’s one rapper out of Kalamazoo, Michigan building a huge buzz for the next wave by the name of Loc Smoov.

When it comes to creating concepts for your albums, what is the process like? I get into a certain type of mode. And however, I’m feeling that day I just let it flow.. I don’t think about it too hard Do you have a favorite producer that you’ve worked with so far? This last year I’ve worked with a bunch of great producers, so it’s hard to pick a favorite one. Me and Reazon have a nice series with Coupe Music, but I still can’t pick none because they’re all fire.
Why did you name your project “The Realest”? I named that The Realest because I felt like I was the realest. At the time, I was feeling like the way I make my music I try to be as realistic as possible. The songs on that mixtape describe my life. If you listen to my mixtape, that’s what I was going through at the time. So, “The Realest” came to me naturally.
What is it like being an artist out of Kalamazoo, Michigan? It’s a good experience and then again it’s not because we don’t really have a lot of resources to really get our music out so we got to work harder. We have to search for certain things that artists in a big city have on their faces. But the good thing about being here is that it’s easier for people to know who you are. I was at McDonalds and the dude was almost out of the window to show me he had my music on his phone.
Do you have any plans for 2024? I plan on dropping more music, more tapes, more albums, traveling, going to different cities, and different states and really taking my music to the next level.
Making more relationships with people to get my music where it needs to be.
