Atlanta rapper YoDogg unleashes his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Alpha Wolf via Everything Is Gold Music (EISG)/Epic Records.
Alpha Wolf solidifies YoDogg as an inimitable force in the rap game. Following the intro, he opens the album with the electrifying “Wouldn’t Be Me.” Between ominous keys and skittering 808s, he delivers a flurry of menacing bars and punchy flows, culminating in the darkly arresting refrain, “I wouldn’t be me if I came in this club without my glock and extendo.” On “Nevada,” he flexes his versatile bars as an off-kilter guitar loop sets the tone. The MC issues a dire warning, “He ain’t gon’ learn ‘til the wolf come and eat him.” Among many highlights, YoDogg and Duke Deuce trade rhymes on “Nothing Else,” igniting a lively surge of energy and chanting, “If I don’t do nothing else, Imma rep my set.” Then, there’s “Big Wolf.” As bold piano and uplifting flute erupt, he serves up a lyrical frenzy while opening up about his trials and tribulations.
