Outside of being one of the hottest rappers coming out of North Carolina right now, OGC CREAM is also an actor, owner of a production company and author. Coming from street life, he very much carries the hood on his back all while making a name for himself in Hollywood. In music you can call him OGC and in his other roles he is known as Anthony Langston. The triple threat creative has had acting roles alongside Lance Gross in Dutch 2 and Dutch 3 on BET+. His production company in the works of releasing his latest film Love Is Illusion, starring Mimi Faust, D’Kia Anderson, Head Krack, Dana Dane and he just released his novel for “Love is Illusion.”
We caught up with OGC CREAM to ask him about his music, acting, production company and hardships he has faced and overcame. Before you get into the interview though, make sure to check out his latest music video for C.R.E.A.M. here.
1.How long have you been doing music and who were your inspirations?
OGC CREAM: I’ve been doing music all my life. But professionally about 7 years. My music inspirations were Jay-z, Master P, 50 Cent, 2 Pac, and Biggie.
2.How would you describe your sound?
OGC CREAM: I would describe my sound as street, raspy, real, older rap meets new rap mash style, adapting to ANY beat.
3.Why is music important to you?
OGC CREAM: It gives me freedom to relieve through sound and thought. Music helped me get through those hard days in those small cube prison cells. The loneliness, stress, strain, and memories of good times. Music is spiritual for me. It’s life. I could remember past events in my history based on music tags during those moments of life.
4.What is the inspiration behind your latest single?
OGC CREAM: I was really thinking of how covid had everyone’s back against the wall financially. We couldn’t work, the struggle in America was real. Economy crashes and all. I’m from the streets. I’ve sold every drug you can think of, not proud to say, but it’s glorified in rap to believe that street life is the only way to make a dollar. A terrible miseducation on youth. When covid came, it made us all see we had to figure out ways to generate funds, no matter WHAT the occupation. The song C.R.E.A.M. (Obviously resonates with the original Wu Tang Clan acronym) Encourages ppl to make their money no matter what society deems cool or in. Get your money. Take care of your kids and try to be greater than yesterday.
5.Now long have you been an actor? What was your first role?
OGC CREAM: I shot an independent, poorly shot film entitled Silent Killerz. I directed, wrote script, and acted main role. It was praised by local city. The hood loved it. It was trash, not that I look back on it. And you will never get the link to see it Kiki. But OFFICIALLY acting since 2021! 4 years. 3 of them are Sag- Afta films that makes me now union eligible. 7 films in all. 2 released. My first role was a street shooter, hired to try to kill a doctor’s mistress. The movie SIN.
6.What is your most notable role?
OGC CREAM:I play the character of Black in Dutch 2 and Dutch 3. A goon apart of a team of criminals ran by Dutch (Lance Gross)
7.What inspires your films?
OGC CREAM: The films I produce or partake in producing, the inspiration is the end results. Jus knowing that we could shoot films that can compete with bigger companies if the script and cameras, actors, and post is right. Pumps me up. Bidding for actors, finding the pieces, placing the pieces and all excites me.
8.When did you launch your production company? What inspired you to?
OGC CREAM: I came on board of the production company Motion Boy Productions, once my partner Anthony Coley, a new executive producer, met with Essence best-selling author Kwame Teague, and decided to shoot his first movie. I immediately invested and became part owner of the company and we have recently finished a movie entitled Love is illusion, based off a novel of mine.
9.What are some upcoming projects you have in the film industry?
OGC CREAM:
Lux Life
Love Is Illusion (Mimi Faust, D’Kia Anderson, Head Krack, Dana Dane)
Dutch 3 (Lance Gross, Markice Moore, Tyrin Turner, Macy Gray)
10.When it’s all said and done, what do you want be known for?
OGC CREAM: Beating the odds. Being the inspiration. The motivation. The story, that someone stumbles upon that’s in positions I once was, that says it’s not over until you’ve absolutely tried more than your peers. The story that says go beyond what your normal world says you are capable of – and see what happens.
