Grammy award-winning R&B singer-songwriter, musician and producer Ambré announced the release of her new mixtape “i do this sh*t in my sleep,” which is available to stream on all platforms.
The six-track mixtape serves as a soundtrack to being vulnerable and authentic with features from Grammy-nominated singer Alex Isley and fellow hometown artist Treety. “i do this sh*t in my sleep” takes listeners on a playful journey of cat and mouse and sensual love-making with tracks, “SWV,” “Sideways” and “Perfect Timing.” Although, it has the bones of an EP with a solid storyline from start to finish, Ambré insists that it is only a sneak peek into something bigger, something timeless.
“This is not an album… I didn’t spend months working on these songs. These are a collection of demos,” Ambré said. “But if you like them then you’ll love what’s to come… because I’m working on the greatest album of all time.”
“i do this sh*t in my sleep” comes on the heels of her soulful cover of Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U.” The cover came after the Roc Nation artist released her project, who’s loving you?, which features production from Jay Versace on “BAD HABITS” and a feature from Mack Keane on “ELEVATE.”
“who’s loving you?” served as an extension of her 2022 project “3000°” which served as homage to classic projects from two New Orleans legends, Juvenile’s “400 Degreez” and Lil Wayne’s “500 Degreez.” The Grammy® Award-winning songwriter garnered her first Billboard No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart with her single “I’m Baby” featuring British singer/songwriter Jvck James off her project “3000°.”
Last year was a testament year for the New Orleanian native who performed a slew of psychedelic, soulful hit songs during her NPR: Tiny Desk performance. The performance came in tandem with the news of BET naming her a Best New Artist Nominee, her first ever nomination. Earlier that year, she wrapped up her headlining tour The Wild Magnolia Tour which included sold out shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and more.
Originally discovered from Soundcloud following her first release in 2014, Ambré was signed to Roc Nation in 2019. As a multi-hyphenated artist in the music industry, she has collaborated with notable acts such as Chlöe x Halle, and Kehlani and H.E.R., with whom she received a Grammy for her contribution to her self-titled album.
