Jabari, singer-songwriter and recent signee to Epic Records, delivers his sophomore single and music video. “Weekend Drive.” The soaring love ballad replete with a choir-laden outro, is now available streaming everywhere.
Though he is best known for his acting on the three seasons of Peacock’s Bel-Air a hit TV event (Jabari plays the role of Will Smith), Jabari made it clear to the world that his on-screen talent is not his only gift when he liberated “Something Else,” the sultry first official single of his career, in December 2023.
Jabari is back with another taste of what’s to come from his forthcoming debut EP, as he straddles the R&B and Pop worlds with an airy anthem that warrants exactly what its title suggests: a two-door cruise down the coastline with the ride-or-die in your life. A closer listen to the lyrics, however, reveals a more sensual metaphor, adding a layer of intrigue to the easygoing record. It’s all part of the relatability that Jabari consciously bakes into his music, a central facet of his artistry.
“When people view my life, I want them to view it as art and the correlation between everything that’s ever happened to me,” he says. “It’s all dialed-in and dynamically aligned with the stars.”
Jabari’s video features dynamically align with his music, the latest of them being the official music video for “Weekend Drive,” also available today. The Audrey Ellis-Fox-directed clip paints a scene overflowing with hope and serenity, as Jabari and his friends gallivant through sunlit settings. Despite the fast-paced scene, there’s no mistaking the true love connections that have formed. It’s the perfect Saturday afternoon, brought to life.
With his musical gaze aimed skyward, Jabari’s Bel-Air momentum continues to push him to new heights. The arrival of “Weekend Drive” coincides with the release of the third season of Bel-Air, available beginning today. The show’s first two seasons were celebrated by a multi-generational audience and nominated for a slew of awards including a 2022 People’s Choice Award, and an ‘Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series’ nomination for Jabari at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
With his first two official singles now available and more on the horizon, it won’t be long before Jabari is being celebrated for his contributions in the booth as well.
