Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, King.Kidd discovered a passion for writing early on, taking inspiration from Jill Scott’s words: “I’m a writer first, artist second.” King.Kidd’s creative journey began at age 7, crafting short stories, poems, and eventually screenplays. By middle school, she had penned her first novel, The Lexicon of Love, demonstrating a natural gift for storytelling.

Music became an integral part of her life, with roots in school and church choirs, including being the only fourth grader invited to join the fifth-grade choir at Sigler Elementary. Even then, King.Kidd’s creativity shone, writing jingles beloved by classmates.

In November 2006, King.Kidd’s songwriting took center stage. A family friend recognized her talent, challenging her to write songs on the spot. Within an hour, she had written 15 songs, igniting a lifelong passion for music.

Since launching a professional career in 2015, King.Kidd has been featured on platforms such as New York Weekly, ThisIs50.com, American Pride Magazine, and Forever with Pride. Her artistry has graced mixtapes hosted by DJ Young Cee, A1, and DJ Johnny Rip, and she’s shared the stage with legends like Paul Wall, Ying Yang Twins, Dorrough Music, Lardi B, and Lil Wil.

King.Kidd’s hit singles—Glue, Temptation, Pretty Smile, and Gravity—have been featured in independent films, including Indifferent Enchantment and In Due Time, directed by Dr. Samina Najmah. The single We Are Kingz from the album Royal Family received a powerful remix on the EP Conscious King by the late Dallas producer Beatnerd Hub, featuring Absolut and Leo Lamar.

With a writing process rooted in raw emotion and unfiltered thoughts, King.Kidd describes music as “a feeling from the soul that needs to come out—a person’s innermost dwellings.” Her songs, like No Better Than and Conscious King, reflect this ethos, aiming to inspire and uplift listeners.

As King.Kidd puts it:

“My songs are my mirror. As I write to better myself, I hope to better you too. It’s time to wake up and be the change we wish to see.”
