Dom Okon in less than five years has become an instrumental pop sensation through the release of albums such as Youthly, Emergent and Just Dom. The King of Instrumental Pop has had resounding success with his two prior albums with his third one also following suit. The title track of the “Just Dom” album reached #1 on the South African iTunes Alternative Singles Chart and peaked at #9 on the All-Genres Chart in South Africa as well. With the addition of the “Just Dom” album the American musician has now successfully released three consecutive iTunes Top 100 charting albums. Dom Okon is the first instrumental artist to have three consecutive iTunes Top 100 charting albums before the age of 20.
When listening to the “Just Dom” album you can tell that Dom Okon was looking to vear off script and try something new. The beats featured in this record are slower and sound less pop. Despite this change and new alternative sound, the album still does a great job of telling a story to listeners. As it describes being content with age and growing, not being afraid to encounter the next challenges of life. The album is eight tracks long making it a bit shorter than his previous albums but still contains a quality sound.
Dom Okon has three iTunes Top 100 charting albums, two number #1 singles on the South African iTunes Charts and is the first and only instrumental artist to obtain three iTunes Top 100 charting albums before the young age of 20. It is wonderful to see Okon grow and evolve within his career. It is only telling what the future holds next for the musical artist.
