Let’s keep it a buck: West Milford isn’t the first place you think of when you hear “hip-hop” or “weed scene.” But on May 24th? It looked like the BET Awards met a smoke session in the middle of Jersey. Beyond Bleaf did that.
This wasn’t no boring business launch. This was Black excellence on display, with DJ Drewski on the boards, DJ KRock holding it down, and everybody from the boroughs to the ‘burbs sliding through.
Founders Luciana Cotten, Latasha Lovick, and Tarsha Adeyemi made it clear they’re not asking for a seat at the table—they’re building their own. The shop was clean, the staff was pro, and the crowd was diverse—from old heads to Gen Z.
And the story behind it? Even more real. Tarsha, one of the owners, leaned on cannabis when she was going through chemo. Now she’s flipping the pain into purpose—and putting other women on in the process.
“I’ve done PR for decades,” said Lynn Hobson, publicist for the dispensary. “And I’ve never seen a first-day turnout like this. These ladies didn’t just open up shop—they opened up the door for a lot more women to walk through.”
No fluff. Just fire. From branding to beats to bud—Beyond Bleaf is official.
