Rapper/singer Fluent continues his enthralling Heartbreak Aaron series with Volume 3. The five-track EP captures the ups and downs of a relationship through vulnerable lyricism, melodic vocals, and rhythmic production that bangs. It’s another impressive outing from an artist who proudly wears his heart on his sleeve, to the betterment of his music and, potentially, the relationships of his listeners.
To say it’s easy to relate to Vol. 3 is an understatement—unless, of course, you’ve never been in love. But for those who have, the thrill of the chase is felt immediately on the opening track, “Down With You (feat. Karma).” Boasting a swoon-worthy vocal sample, JGLAD Music’s production sets the tone for Fluent’s pursuit of a special someone who’s caught his attention. And he carries those positive vibes into “Body All One Me,” a Cashmoney AP-produced banger that Fluent says “embodies the nirvana of a relationship.”
However, all good things must come to an end, and you can really feel the longing and loneliness coming through on the final track, “Pretty Girls.” Surrounded by trap hi-hats and an addictive guitar loop, Fluent is mending a broken heart and lamenting his mistakes, while also trying to find the right one who can “tell me you need me.”
As for what’s next for Fluent, he says he has plans to continue this series’ concept, but he can’t promise when we’ll hear it. “All I can say for now is to stay tuned,” he adds.
