Courtney Bradley, professionally known as Montu Mercury, is an independent hip-hop artist and founder of Other Worldly Music LLC. Born on May 27, 1988, in Toledo, Ohio, and raised in Jennings, Missouri, Montu’s musical journey began in middle school as a percussionist in the marching band, where he mastered reading music and playing instruments such as cymbals, xylophone, snare, and bass drums. His early experiences recording in neighborhood basements and home studios laid the foundation for his artistry and distinctive sound.
Montu began releasing music on SoundCloud in 2014, gaining momentum by 2016, and officially debuted with The Realm of Merc in 2020. The album, featuring standout tracks like “iLLKiLL,” “Vampire,” and “666,” amassed over 500,000 streams. Following this success, he released “Shadow” in 2021, a track inspired by his personal transformation through shadow work, and “Embrace the Struggle,” a motivational trap anthem. In 2022, Montu continued expanding his catalog with YinYang, an exploration of duality, and a re-mastered version of Darkness, influenced by his affinity for Marilyn Manson’s sound.
In late 2022, Montu launched Other Worldly Music LLC, an independent label dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and delivering music with rare spiritual depth. A defining moment came in 2023 with the release of Ace of Cups featuring Asha Renu. The track became his most-streamed single, surpassing 100,000 Spotify streams, and was promoted on a Times Square billboard—marking a pivotal milestone in his career.
The name Montu Mercury reflects his artistic identity: Montu, the Egyptian war god, symbolizes strength, while Mercury represents wisdom and communication. His music, deeply personal and transformative, encourages self-reliance, introspection, and the courage to carve one’s own path. Rejecting trends, Montu remains steadfast in his mission to create an authentic and unique sound in hip-hop.
