Born in Oakland, California, Minister King X Pyeface of K.A.G.E. Universal is a recording artist, music producer, and revolutionary “Artivist” whose life and work embody resistance, redemption, and rebirth. After surviving six years in federal prison and eighteen years in California state prison, Minister King emerged not only unbroken, but more determined than ever to fight for freedom—his and others’.
While incarcerated, he became the youngest New Afrikan organizer during the historic 2011–2013 California Prisoners’ Hunger Strike, a massive movement demanding humane conditions and justice behind the walls. Today, he continues that fight as Director of California Prison Focus and co-organizer of the Community Artivist Read Book Club, where literature, leadership, and liberation intersect.
His mission is clear: to free New Afrikan elders, political prisoners, and organizers—especially those who were part of the California Prisoner’s Hunger Strike—through support of the Agreements to End Hostilities (AEH) and a deeper commitment to unity, both inside and outside prison walls.
Minister King X Pyeface is not only an Artivist—he’s a trailblazing artist. He recently completed the mixing and mastering of his debut single for the upcoming film STRIKE, and is currently developing The Menticide Project: Political Musical—a bold, new genre he created. This groundbreaking project tells the untold stories of prison activists like George L. Jackson and other New Afrikans whose worldviews have been suppressed or vilified. Through The Menticide Project, Minister King X Pyeface is rewriting the narrative for artists in California and pushing boundaries with unapologetic truth.
As an Artivist, he merges creative expression with social and political action—using his music to raise awareness, challenge systems of oppression, and ignite change. His leadership is rooted in movement building and direct action. “When we centralize from every cell block to every city block,” he says, “we base our A.E.H. Street Agreement around five principles we call Unity With a Purpose. This is how we build community—through Artivists in Action.”
From the streets of Oakland to the prison yards of California, Minister King X Pyeface is the living embodiment of struggle, survival, and transformation. His voice is a weapon. His art is a movement. And the time is now!
