Clarendon, Jamaica — Dancehall artist and actor E-Dee is putting his voice to work for his home island with the release of his new single, “We A Rebuilt (Jamaica).” The song arrives in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the Category 5 storm that ripped through Jamaica and left entire communities in Jamaica and beyond struggling for basics like food, water, and shelter.

Unlike a standard release, this one comes with purpose: every cent from streams and sales will go straight into verified relief efforts helping families recover and rebuild.

For E-Dee, born Everton Dennis in Toll Gate Claredo, this disaster hit a place he knows by heart.

When Melissa hit, I couldn’t just watch it happen from afar,” he said. “This is for the people who are trying to start over. Even one stream can make a difference.

A Journey From Clarendon Jamaica to the World

E-Dee’s story has always been one of resilience. After losing his mother at a young age, he moved to Los Angeles after high school and trained at the Hollywood Theatre of Arts. By 2004, he was signed to Unseen Lab Recordings, working closely with Grammy-winning producer Qmillion.

His breakthrough single “R U Ready” (2005) opened international doors, especially in Japan. His debut album JA 2 LA 2 DI World followed, along with charting singles like “Revolution” with Irie Love and “Bongce Along” with Ms. Triniti — two records that earned him EME Award nominations.

In recent years, he’s kept up the momentum with the 2022 project Elevate, featuring Wayne Wonder, I-Octane, and Glen Washington, which was submitted for Reggae Grammy consideration.  2025 Grateful EP— with appearances from Ginjah and Jah Malo — continued to showcase his growth, boosted by the viral energy around “Water Run” and its cinematic visuals.

Music With a Mission

“We A Rebuilt (Jamaica)” isn’t just a tribute — it’s a response. The track captures the pain, strength, and stubborn hope of a country that refuses to stay down, weaving E-Dee’s own memories of Clarendon into a message aimed at lifting the people now living through the aftermath.

Staying Connected to the Community

Beyond the music, E-Dee has been quietly coordinating with community leaders on the ground in Kingston , keeping in close contact with families who lost everything in the storm. He’s using his platform to push awareness outside Jamaica, reminding fans overseas that while headlines fade, the recovery has only just begun. His hope is that this song becomes more than a moment — that it becomes a steady stream of support for the people who need it most.
