Coming into this past NBA Draft, University of Kentucky forward Julius Randle seemed like the most NBA-ready on the offensive side than any other player in the draft pool.
Randle was a beast for the Wildcats on the block. A double, double machine, Julius put up 15 points and 10 rebounds in his one season in Lexington. He went from one prestigious organization to another when he was drafted #7 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Growing up a fan of Kobe Bryant, you couldn’t have picked a better situation for the kid from Plano Texas. As the season gets close to kicking off, Randle got some great motivation from his childhood idol.
After the teams pre-season match-up against the Utah Jazz, Randle got some real, man to man advice from Kobe Bean Bryant.
“If you fuck this up, you’re a really big idiot,” Bryant said after the Lakers victory over the Jazz “ESPN are idiots, but you’re really a big idiot if you manage to fuck this up.”
Julius took the comment all in stride.
“It’s for me to mess it up,” Randle said with a laugh as he recalled Bryant’s message. “Kobe said you can’t mess it up unless you want to. I intentionally have to mess things up.”
