What’s SMU’s loss has been China’s gain.
Emmanuel Mudiay was one of the top 3 prospects in this years freshman class. He signed with Larry Brown and the SMU Mustangs intially. He would later see his collegiate hopes dashed by the NCAA when they questioned some of his high school classes.
Rather than sit out a year, he decided to go pro early, kinda. Mudiay signed a 1-year contract to play for the Guangdong Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Mudiay has played up to his potential while in China. Last night, he dropped his first professional triple-double as his team beat Qingdao led by former NBA star Stephon Marbury.
His stat line at the end of the read 22 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
