Last night, YG premiered his first short film ever, Blame It On The Streets, in LA. The short film was to serve as a follow up to the Compton’s MC debut album, however, there wasn’t enough time to actually shoot the movie. So the team thought it was best to drop it before the year was out.
The goal was to create a classic album and a short film but when we dropped the album we didn’t have enough time to shoot the movie so we had to figure out a way how to put a movie out. So we figured it out and put it out the same year, Dec. 2014, he says.
With Q&A by digital entertainment queen Karen Civil, YG discussed what the process was like choosing actors and more for his first film. The rapper was also Fergie, DJ Mustard, Hit-Boy, Too Short, Ricky Gonzalez, Trae The Truth, Ty Dolla $ign, and more in celebration of the premiere.
The film will be available for purchase along with a soundtrack via iTunes on December 15th.
But until then, watch the recap below.
