Back in late August I featured an artist from Columbia, SC by the name Wally Fattz and I can honestly say I am glad to have the homie back on the site doing his thing. Running off the local success he had from his Wet Paint mixtape (Now Available on datpiff) Wally created a descent buzz for himself in the South Carolina Hip Hop scene, which led to opening acts with Wale, Gorilla Zoe and CyHi Da Prynce. With the end of the year approaching Wally Fattz is preparing to release his upcoming project November Knights sometime in November. I was given the opportunity to check out the Fattz project earlier this morning for a lil review.
He opens his mixtape with a joint titled Bird On The Wire Ft. Familiar MAX produced by the big homie Harry Fraud, so I commend him for that…. As soon as I hit play and heard Wally Fattz do his thing and I knew right then I wasn’t listening to someone that raps for a hobby. On the second record Still, Fattz delivers clever punch lines over a popular Monsta Beats joint. He defiantly held his own lacing the track with bars like “Imma Star no Ringo” and “I’m paper chasing in my dreams because this life aint what it seems”. Fattz was able to get over the Second track skip hump in my book. And if you don’t know what that is…It’s when the first joint on a project gets you so hype for the second track which is a dud! Wish more artist could figure out how NOT to have that happen smh. Dipping into track 3 Wally took full advantage of the production from Nuggiez and was able to take me to a familiar place to him through his music. I enjoyed this joint…The delivery, concept, production — all in all a win. Fattz brings back Harry Fraud for the production on his next two record Roll Call and 2 Kings Ft. Primetime. Both are quality music and I thought 2 Kings might seal the deal as my favorite song on this project until I got to track 6 — Gardens of the Gods Prod. by Persian Rug. I felt like I got a taste of all my favorite Mc’s all wrapped up in one record. Calling out to #TeamWallyFattz… Make sure he gets a visual for this joint ASAP!! My hour or so concludes with the last record from the 7 track mixtape. Young Till I Die Ft. J- Money Prod. by SuperStar – O is the perfect record to end his very impressive project. An anthem that young people can vibe out to with no shame. — shit who doesn’t want to be young till they die?
If Wally Fattz stays consistent don’t be surprised if my man starts popping up. I could hear the growth and confidence on this project vs his Wet Paint mixtape and that is one of the biggest battles. believing in yourself and your music. Wally Fattz will be releasing the artwork for his November Knights project as soon as a date is set. I Left yall with my favorite record from the project below. Salute to my man Wally Fattz from Columbia, SC — I officially co – sign this project with my signature….
