Up-and-coming musician, Officially GP (also known as “Get Paper”) has seen a different life than most people would never experience. GP is no stranger to hard work and hardship, having grown up on Cleveland’s east side, which has often been considered snooty. Indeed, several misfortunes recently put him in prison for seven years. However, the rising star’s life is about to make a tremendous turn as he prepares to unleash his next mixtape and debut the brilliant lyrics he penned while incarcerated.
His Inspiration
Officially GP is captivated by Jay Z and Tupac Shakur’s likes, saying he admires their authenticity, which also reflects in their arts. “They’re really living it,” the artist says, “and they’re going through the struggle they’re singing about.” GP intends to “keep it real” in his life and his music so that he is recognized as a genuine artist like his mentors, with the faith that someday sooner than later, he will be on the same level as them.
His Talent
The rapper pulls no punches in his thought-provoking and intelligent lyrics; he creatively pours down his heart and lays truth down on the table. He is confident that in the future, his words will keep playing in people’s minds and will keep airing, having a significant influence on the community at large. To begin his journey of leaving an indelible mark is his latest album, a mixtape titled ‘2035’. The tape is part of a project called life after 7, which from the name, you can tell, is very significant to him as it documents his seven years in prison, which totaled to 2035 days in jail. Officially GP admits that prison time was stressful enough but says he also got many hours for self-reflection and even more to focus on his writing, appreciating how the whole situation got him in his zone, getting him to a level where he could be in tune with himself.
His Entrepreneurial Beast
Officially Gp is also a big success on his entrepreneurial side. He owns Red Karpet, one of the city’s largest clothing shops, known for its specialized leggings, hoodies, t-shirts, and shoes/slides. With a frame of 6’7″, he is his first model and a model for the renowned Fashion nova Brand, seeing that he is passionate about modeling and photography. When he is not in the 100 thousand dollar state of art studio run by the excellent producer 4matik hitmaker, or in his clothing store, or posing as a model, he is pursuing his acting career. He has appeared in hot series like Empire Season 5 Episodes 5, 7, and 9 and others like Proven innocent Season 1, both of which air on Fox Network and many more, even ‘the chi,’ seen on showtimes OWN.
