Black Romance is a celebration of not only Black history but also of the process of black empowerment. The song highlights many black icons and speaks to their strength in overcoming barriers along their paths. The song calls for justice which is much needed comes as many Black people in America face injustices such as the killing of unarmed black citizens such as Duante Wright which is happening in the midst of the trial for the police officer that killed George Floyd. The further song shines a light on the unjust system that has failed Breanna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and calls for change. Black Romance is not just a song but a movement based on rising above and prospering. Zul-Qarnain has always been vocal about empowerment through self-love and taking action to improve the opportunities available to his community. The hip-hop artist, filmmaker, fashion designer, and financial freedom fighter has a message to share. He wants to encourage his community and all communities to start learning about all kinds of freedoms especially financial freedom.
The song is his first release under the name Zul-Qarnain and is the first song off of his upcoming album titled ‘The Khutbah’ which is set to be released in 2021. While this is first released under the name Zul-Qarnain he is not a newcomer in the industry, he had previously made a buzz under the moniker K Gates. If this song is anything to go by the New Orleans rapper is set to have an exciting year.
