For many professionals, the pandemic has brought their careers to a slow-down if not to a complete stop. However, for the SimpkinsTwins, it was the opposite. The whole COVID-19 situation indeed brought many challenges to their endeavors. However, rather than letting the circumstances drag them down, they used it as motivation to boost their career instead.
The rap duo Addison and Blake Simpkins, or the SimpkinsTwins as they are known, released their first EP, “OuttaSpace”, on Spotify in December 2018. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to publish more songs immediately afterward, and then the pandemic hit. The quarantine further hindered them from making new tracks, and the longer that went on, the more discouraged they became.
The sudden change in their daily lifestyle was already a reason to cause mental stress to the twins. As if it weren’t enough, they also couldn’t actively go after their dream. They finally released an EP after a lot of hard work. However, despite everything, the SimpkinsTwins refused to give up and let the pandemic ruin what they had already built.
At some point during the quarantine, the twins aimed to be music artists, regardless of how many obstacles they encountered throughout the journey. They took the pandemic as a challenge to triumph over and to get one step closer to their musical ambitions.
They did so by releasing their new single, “Never Stop”, despite all the challenges brought by the pandemic. Beyond their expectations, it’s this song that brought them back onto the music scene. They started gaining more and more attention from the public. It also helped them achieve a level of success that they didn’t even dare to dream of reaching before.
The “Never Stop” received more than 76,000 streams in less than a month. It also brought attention to the SimpkinsTwins’ first EP and made the seven songs reach a total of half a million plays. Their monthly listeners totaled more than 50,000. This made their fanbase grow to thousands, not only on Spotify but also on Facebook and Instagram.
With the upbeat melody and catchy lyrics of their latest single, it’s no wonder that it boosted the SimpkinsTwins’ reputation. The song talks about people’s hopes and dreams and the role that anxiety and insecurity play. Since the twins can relate to its meaning, they could deliver the emotions behind the lyrics.
The SimpkinsTwins’ story proves that what defines your future are your decisions more than your circumstances. The pandemic brought many challenges, but because the rap duo decided not to give up and persisted, they are now experiencing success. Therefore, whenever you feel like your situation stops you from reaching your goals, persist, and always search for solutions instead of giving up.
