Sh0pyn aka the Yung Gawd just loved music, mostly rap and hip hop after being exposed to reggae, soca, calypso, pop, rock by my family. Definitely something he does not take for granted because his mother seems to be his biggest inspiration for making music. He talks about vividly learning the words to songs an feeling empowered by them. Shit made me feel like a super hero. When asked about the music he typically creates, Yung Gawd had one word- SMARTCORE! Lighting up up talking about how his music and craft is rooted in intellect. “I bring SAT words to the block an make ppl feel things, real things!” Producing himself, he’s given free reign to who he wants to work with, saying how he has been blessed to work with some amazing collaborators. Many of which his most inspiration songs have come from. When asked who he would like to collaborate with next, he couldn’t pinpoint someone because through the journey of his music, he now wants to work with creatives like himself rather than people he has only looked up to. Collaborations may be unknown right now but if he could open up for anyone in the creative space, he was quick to say Travis Scott. “I would love to get to experience the energy of preforming for his fans.”
For all your supporters watching and encouraging you, what do you want them to hear? Yung Gawd laughs as he says “this is the social club u wanna be a part of u…. If u think different, walk n talk different this is where u supposed to be.” Well warned credit and a man of many talents. We jokingly asked if he knew how to do anything useless and his response would surprise you! “Baptizing ppl….. I have given so many ppl the name that other ppl call them. Like their street names.” Even though he doesn’t sing in the shower, Yung Gawd plays podcasts while getting ready for his days, but names R&B song called “Songs 4 Girls 2 Sing 2 Me” is his go to when getting ready. I’d be wasn’t doing music right now, he sees himself being a GM of the NBA or president. Until then he has preformed all over like Ohio & DC. But most of the shows done were in NYC at underground Hip Hop spots like The Pyramid (RIP), Club Element, Neuyorican Poetry Club an too many others too name. Even though Yung Gawd does not have a least favorite venues, his most hated thing when doing shows is bad hosts andlow turnouts while Performing at Art Gallerys and Fashion Shows are probably the most DOPE.
