Earning the respect of the Texas scene with her pugilistic rhymes, Big Jade refuses to change herself for the benefit of anyone else. Today, the Beaumont baddie reminds her fans and haters alike what time it is, sharing the ferocious new mixtape I Can’t Help It. Spanning 8 tracks, the new tape features some of Jade’s most athletic and disrespectful rhymes to date, reverberating with a “real street” authenticity that few can replicate. The new tape percolates with club-ready Texas-style instrumentals, complete with elastic basslines and driving percussion, with production from heavy-hitters like DJ Chose and more. Through it all, Jade remembers what matters most–the cover art depicts Jade, her daughter, and her mother as a united front, shot in a style inspired by the poster for a Wayan Brothers’ 1996 cult classic.
I Can’t Help It starts with “Pistol,” a rapidfire barrage of syllables that re-assert Jade’s rap supremacy, continuing with X-rated escapades like “Lick Lick,” and the heavy-hitting strip club anthem “Dollas,“ paying tribute to the late Gangsta Boo. The tape is home to the melodic recent single “Soulmate” ft. Fredo Bang, in which Jade changes up her flow and experiments with auto-tune, and the unapologetic “Real Street,” her latest video, which delivers her mission statement for the project: “I can’t help it, I’m a real ass street b*tch.” Featuring an additional guest appearance by Sada Baby on the confrontational “What She Said,” I Can’t Help It is available everywhere via Alamo Records.
