Dotty Ryōsuke is a rapper, musician, singer/songwriter, record producer, CEO, and content creator, who despite the young age of 16, has swagged up the rap game into something more down to earth. Known on Spotify as ‘AMU Henry Smalls’, Dotty has impressed his fans with his versatility, his love for anime, and his songs with Hatsune Miku.
Dotty grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and spent his free time listening to music on YouTube and MySpace, which inspired him to start making his own music. He started uploading songs and beats to his private MySpace account in 2016 (when he was only 7 years old). Soon, his cousin CJ (known as ‘CAP.THE.ONE’, or simply ‘CAP’) started rapping on SoundCloud in around 2018/2019, which later inspired Dotty to start taking music more seriously and putting it out for others to hear.
Throughout the years of 2024 and 2025, Dotty has transformed from following what was popular, to building his own style based on the things he has love for. During the years of Late-2022 to Mid-2024, Dotty wasn’t Dotty, he was instead making drill music because he thought it was cool. But in March 2024, he got in trouble for mentioning his bullies in a song.
“It was a time when I was all on my own, no one on my side” – Dotty
Dotty dealed with a severe depression throughout the remainder of the school year, but he wanted to turn his depression into inspiration. In May 2024, he made ‘Ejji no kitta-gai’, a 12-track emo drill album influenced by his feelings and falling out with ‘Lil Blurr Q’. Then, in June, Dotty made ‘Tropical Storm A.H.S’ for the summer, making a happier album. Around this time, Dotty was starting to get disgusted with the drill music he was doing and wanted a fresh start.
In around July/August 2024 (or maybe it was 2023?), famous rapper Lil B followed Dotty on Twitter. This inspired Dotty to change up what he did and try to have more fun making music. In September, he made ‘EdgyOtaku’ with a music video, where he raps about yuri anime and hentai. Later, he went on to working with Hatsune Miku, making a collab album with her (WORLD IS MINE 1739) and dropping in November of that year.
Now, throughout the year of 2025, Dotty has made multiple albums, starting with ‘Hentai Haven’, an album about Dotty’s love for anime. Afterwards, he dropped ‘HeSoBased’, which explores deeper into Dotty’s versatility across different beats. Then he followed up with ‘Ani-may’ and ‘Hurricane Dotty’. Now, he’s dropping a new album called ‘Final Form’ this month.
Dotty has gotten a fair share of support from rappers like Shiroko Raccz, 556Kurumi, omgsaka, Hatsune Miku, Lil Boom, YungLex, Lil B, and so much more. However, not everyone is going along with this wave. In August 2024, Dotty started beefing with a rapper and breakcore producer named ‘Acidgvrl’. The beef started after Dotty made a remix to “XANNYS FOR THE WEEKEND”, which was not official.
“I just really wanted to work with her [Acidgvrl] at the time, but she ego’d me every time I asked. Let me waste my time for nothin’, it’s cool. I’ma jus’ do me” – Dotty
More recently, when Dotty and Miku dropped ‘Candy’ in July, there was a lot of backlash over the single cover and the song itself, especially because it was on Miku’s YouTube channel. Dotty has explained that the song was actually very much experimental, as he was trying to produce with new sounds, making an entire song using a melody pop candy.
But overall, Dotty’s influence continues to spread, inspiring more positivity and realness. With ‘Final Form’ coming soon, along with a possible sequel to Dotty’s collab album with Miku, fans are excited to hear more. Recently, Dotty’s song ‘Die Young’ (also known as ‘WAKAJINI’) became known for it’s unique storytelling and became a yandere anthem.
“And by the way, I’m doing it for the ‘weird kids’. Be yourself, stay in school, spread positivity, and remember to stay based!” – Dotty
